Washington, D.C. – The American Mideast Coalition for Democracy, the World Council for the Cedars Revolution, and the Amer Foundation have issued a formal request to President Donald J. Trump, urging swift action following the attendance of Lebanese government officials, U.S. citizens, and legal resident aliens at the funeral of Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, a U.S.-designated terrorist organization. Hassan Nasrallah was also responsible for the assassination of Lebanese, American, Syrian citizens and others.

On February 23, 2025, several Lebanese officials, along with American citizens and legal residents, attended and publicly honored a terrorist figure, an act that directly contradicts the United States’ longstanding efforts to combat terrorism and safeguard national security.

In a letter addressed to President Trump, the organizations emphasized the urgent need for the imposition of sanctions on all individuals who participated in the funeral and called for a review of the citizenship status of U.S. attendees. The letter asserts that such attendance signals tacit support for terrorism and undermines the values upheld by the United States.

“The presence of government officials and U.S. citizens at Nasrallah’s funeral is not just symbolic; it actively undermines global counterterrorism efforts and emboldens Hezbollah’s illicit activities, including terrorism and drug trafficking,” the letter states. “We urge the Trump Administration to take decisive action by imposing sanctions and reviewing the legal status of any U.S. persons involved.”

The organizations commended the Trump Administration for its commitment to accountability and national security and emphasized that imposing sanctions would send a clear message that the United States will not tolerate support for terrorist organizations, regardless of the individuals’ political standing or nationality.

A full list of Lebanese officials and U.S. individuals who attended Nasrallah’s funeral has been submitted to the administration for review.
