In mid-July, AMCD issued a press release blasting the Biden Administration for waving sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran. This administration seems intent on helping the mullahs achieve their nuclear aims. AMCD finds this unconscionable.
On July 8, AMCD members met with Derek Chartrand, who is running for the Republican nomination to defeat Congresswoman Suzan Delbene in Washington State’s first district. Chartrand is running to restore law and order, solve the traffic problem in Seattle and regulate unscrupulous lenders who prey on the vulnerable. He believes in peace through strength and in not appeasing our enemies. His election would be a great improvement for Washington State.

In mid-August, AMCD Co-chair, Hossein Khorram issued a statement on our disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan – one of the most shameful acts in American history.
On August 19, AMCD members met with Iranian-American Amanda Makki who is running for the Republican nomination in Florida’s 13th Congressional district. Amanda is passionate, articulate and understands the issues facing the Middle East very well having immigrated here with her parents after the fall of the Shah. She sees many parallels between what is happening now in Afghanistan to what happened to Iran in 1979 – both are now run by terrorist governments due to feckless and naive Democratic leadership in the United States.
On August 26, AMCD issued a press release asking: What comes next for Afghanistan and the world? We believe America’s f eckless withdrawal will intensify our rapid decline on the world stage, possibly including the disintegration of NATO, and will reinforce the view of America as, in the words of President Nixon, “a pitiful, helpless giant,” and most importantly, as an unreliable ally.
Also on August 26, AMCD members met with Elizabeth Kreiselmaier who is attempting to flip a seat which has been in Democrat hands since 1965 and which spans six counties in Washington state. If anyone can do it, Elizabeth can. AMCD wishes her great success.
At the end of August, we lost a valued member, Monica Maryam Blake, who passed away on August 22, 2021 after a long battle with congestive heart failure and diabetes. Monica was a beautiful person and a great friend to AMCD. We will miss her.
September
In early September, AMCD members met with Bahman Maalizadeh, the founder of the Norooz (“New Day”) Foundation located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The foundation has largely focused on the needy in Iran, but has expanded operations to help refugees in Iraq, Jordan, Pakistan, Turkey and India. After the United States’ disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, they have moved their focus to helping those stranded behind Taliban lines and the expected flood of refugees moving into neighboring countries.
On September 7, AMCD advisor, Dr. Walid Phares, gave our members a detailed briefing on what he described as the coup in Afghanistan, how it affects the region and the world. He explained that the Obama-Biden strategy has been consistent: seeking partnership the ideological forces of Islamism, thus we now have “our partners, the Taliban” in Afghanistan. Needless to say, Dr. Phares is not optimistic about how this will all work out. America is seen as weak and all the other regional players are rushing in to fill the void we left behind.
Later in the month, members of AMCD met with Vincent Cavaleri to discuss his possible run against Suzan Delbene (WA-1) in 2022. Cavaleri stated that the Democrats own the Afghanistan failure, the bankrupting of American, the decimation of small business from the covid hysteria, the crime in our streets, the open borders, etc. He believes Republicans must be more aggressive to regain control of Congress in 2022. We at AMCD are sensing the coming of a red wave.
On September 23, 2021, AMCD members met with Jesse Jensen, who is running for Congress in Washington’s 8th District, a seat currently held by Congresswoman Kim Shrier. Jesse is a veteran of the war in Afghanistan and, like our members, is very distressed by the pull out. He is helping to save translators and others trapped behind enemy lines. He also worries about Deep State corruption and hopes to help drain the swamp in the future.
