The American Mideast Coalition for Democracy supports Israel’s recognition of Somaliland and urges the US to take similar action. Somaliland’s strategic location makes it an important partner in countering piracy in the Gulf of Aden as well as providing coordination in countering aggression from groups like the Houthis in Yemen.
In a letter to the White House dated August 14th, Senator Ted Cruz wrote:
“Somaliland has emerged as a critical security and diplomatic partner for the United States, helping America advance our national security interests in the Horn of Africa and beyond. It is strategically located along the Gulf of Aden, putting it near one of the world’s busiest maritime corridors. It possesses capable armed forces and contributes to regional counterterrorism and piracy operations. It has enabled the opening of a Taiwanese Representative Office in the capital of Hargeisa, sought to strengthen ties with Israel, and voiced support for the Abraham Accords. It has proposed hosting a U.S. military presence near the Red Sea along the Gulf of Aden and is open to critical minerals agreements that would support our supply chain resilience. The U.S. Somaliland partnership is robust, and it is deepening.”
Israel became the first nation to officially recognize Somaliland on December 26th despite protests from Somalia and the United Nations. AMCD supports self-determination for Somaliland as it has demonstrated its ability to function as a stable, self-governing, democratic nation in contrast to Somalia itself which can best be described as a failed state. It is our hope that Somaliland partners with Israel and the US to help provide stability and security to the region and perhaps even joins the Abraham Accords in the future. Prime Minister Netanyahu stated: “The State of Israel plans to immediately expand its relations with the Republic of Somaliland through extensive cooperation in the fields of agriculture, health, technology, and economy.”
Somaliland is choosing peace and prosperity as its future and AMCD stands with it.

I totally agree with you. It is time to banish the Somalia that is governed by rebels and it is a big joke when you talk about it. I support ever word you said. May the Lord give the other countries the strength and power to acknowledge it. Happy New Year to you and yours.
